The 10th "Piave" Infantry Division was a large infantry unit of the Royal Army during
the Second World War. In particular, it was a self-transportable metropolitan-type division,
i.e. normal infantry divisions, without the CC.NN Legion, entirely motorized as regards
services and artillery and only partially for the infantry component, which had therefore
to resort to the motorized movement to vehicles supplied from time to time by the
Army Corps Autogroups. As of 10 June 1940, the number of personnel expected for a division
of this type was 10,404 men, equipped with 60 guns (8 anti-aircraft Breda 20/65 Mod. 1935,
8 anti-tank 47/32 Mod. 1935, 8 accompanying 65/17 Mod. 1908/1913, 24 fields of 75/27,
12 howitzers of 100/17), 153 mortars (45 mortars of 81 mm and 108 of 45 mm), 286 machine guns
(220 light and 66 heavy). For transport, 461 motor vehicles, 36 artillery tractors,
159 motorcycles and 127 bicycles were available.
