Kingdom of Sardinia Sabre, Mod. 1833, for the Gendarme of the Squares

A rare troop saber adopted in 1833 for the adjutants and gendarmes of the squares of the Kingdom of Sardinia. The blade is broad, curved, single-edged and double-edged, with a wide central fuller and a thin dorsal groove. The blade features engraved trophies and floral motifs. The hilt is single-hilted, made of brass, with a grip featuring checkered wooden scales. Complete with a leather scabbard with brass fittings and a clasp with a Savoy cross. Total length: 95 cm. A piece of great historical and collectible interest, highly sought after by enthusiasts of 19th-century Piedmontese and Savoy militaria.
