It has its origins from the 79th Infantry Regiment established in Rome on 1 November 1884.
With the application of the law of 11 March 1926 on the organization of the army, it takes
the name of 79th Infantry Regiment "Rome" and following the formation of the Brigades on
three regiments it is assigned to the IX Infantry Brigade, together with the 49th " Parma "
and at the 57th" Abruzzi "; it remains divided into two battalions.
Following the formation of the binary divisions, in April 1939 he was placed in the "Pasubio"
Infantry Division (9a) which also includes the 80th Infantry Regiment and the 8th Artillery
Regiment for d.f.
