Bronze medal with integral suspension of the crown; on the reverse the face with an equestrian portrait of King Carol I and with the words 'CAROL I' and 'ÎNTEMEIETORUL DINASTEI I REGATULUI ROMÂN' (The founder of the Romanian dynasty and kingdom); the reverse with the crowned cipher of King Carol I on the roots of an oak, the dates' 1839 'and' 1939 'on both sides, laurel leaves and oak above, and circumscribed' 100 ANI DE LA NA TEREA PRIMULUI REGE AL ROMÂNIEI , SLAVITU-SA IN DOMNIA REGELUI CAROL AL II-LEA '(100 years since the birth of the first king of Romania, celebrated during the reign of Carol II); on slightly soiled original Austrian-style tape. The medal was established by Royal Decree on May 5, 1939 and awarded to prominent military and civilians, to the holders of the Order of Michael the Courageous and of the Military Virtue Medal and to the staff of the Ministry of National Defense.
