The Italian occupation of southern France took place between 1940 and 1943, 
during the first years of the Second World War.

The royal Italian army was able to militarily occupy some parts of French soil.
 This occupation took place in two phases: the first in June 1940 following 
the French capitulation after the victorious German offensive; the second 
in November 1942, when Hitler decided to militarily occupy the territory of 
Vichy France (Operation Anton).
