Ideal heir of the 1st Cavalry Division of Friuli, on 17 April 1930 it was constituted
in Udine as the 1st Rapid Division, while the 1st Cavalry Command, which at the time
framed the "Cavalleggeri di Saluzzo" Regiment, the "Cavalleggeri di Monferrato Regiment"
"and the" Cavalleggeri di Alessandria "Regiment, on the following 15 June reassumed the
old denomination of 1st Cavalry Brigade and was included in the new division, which the
following year also received the artillery component with the 1st Light Artillery Regiment.
In January 1933 the "Piedmont Cavalry" Regiment (2nd) replaced the "Cavalleggeri di Monferrato"
and on January 1, 1934 the division and its brigade assumed the definitive name 1st Rapid Division
"Eugenio di Savoia" and I Rapid Brigade "Eugenio di Savoia "; with the same provision,
the brigade receives the 11th Bersaglieri Regiment and the "San Giusto" Light Carts Group I.
On 1 February 1938, all the undivided Brigade Commands were suppressed, including therefore
the Command I, the Rapid Brigade, so that the cavalry and bersaglieri regiments and the tank
group passed directly under the Division Command. In October 1938 the "Cavalleggeri di Alessandria"
Regiment replaced the "Piedmont Cavalry" Regiment.
He took part in the Italian occupation of Albania with the XXVII Battalion of the
11th Bersaglieri Regiment, which landed in Durres on 6 April 1939.
