Hat front badge from troop 13 ° Rgt Cavalleggeri "MONFERRATO"

The origins of the regiment date back to 1848, when three squadrons of guides were 
formed for the guide and ordinance service at the headquarters of the large units.

In 1850, with the completion of squadrons with elements from other regiments,
 the "Cavalleggeri di Monferrato" Regiment was established. The regiment took part 
in the Risorgimento campaigns and in 1859 for the conduct held in the battle of Montebello 
and in the battle of San Martino and for services rendered during the second war of 
independence, it obtained the bronze medal for military valor.

In 1871 it took the name of 13th Regiment of Cavalry Monferrato and in 1897 it was called 
Cavalleggeri del Monferrato (13th)
