Rare colbacco frieze for officer of the 15th Cavalleggeri "LODI" model 1895
The 15th "LODI" Cavalry Regiment was a cavalry regiment of the Sardinian Army of the
Kingdom of Sardinia first, and of the Royal Army later. He distinguished himself during
the capture of Porta Pia and in the battle of Zanzur, which took place during the
Italo-Turkish war. During the First World War it participated in the Macedonian campaign
and in the sixth battle of the Isonzo, but at the end of the conflict it was dissolved.
Reconstituted during the Second World War as an Armored Scouting Group (R.E.Co.)
"Cavalleggeri di Lodi", it was intensively used during the Tunisian campaign and, later,
during the Husky operation.
The still silver frieze in question is the one used until the end of the First World War.
During the Second World War the frieze turned yellow.
