Rare frieze from an officer of the 21st Rgt Cavalleggeri of "PADOVA"
In 1883 it was formed by the sixth squadrons of the Foggia, Monferrato, Lucca, Caserta and
Rome regiments, with the name of the Padua Cavalry Regiment (21st) which then changed in 1897
to that of Cavalleggeri di Padova.
It participates with its elements in the campaigns of 1887-88, 1895-96 and 1911-12.
During the Great War (1915-1918) he was split up at the commands of large units.
In June 1916, on the occasion of the Italian counter-offensive in Trentino, a squadron of the
Regiment was employed to make contact with the retreating enemy.
In the retreat of the Army towards the Piave, the "Padova" protects the movement of our moving
columns from Cadore.
Finally, in the battle of Vittorio Veneto, he pursues the enemy en route along the valleys of
the Piave, the Cordevole, the Brenta and the Adige, passing Trento and reaching Ora.
For the behavior held in this operation it is worth mentioning in the war bulletin of the
Supreme Command No. 1266 of 3 November 1918.
It dissolves the following year.
The frieze in question has completely lost the silver plating on the brass base.
