Cavalry sword / saber Mod. 1873 burnished First World War

Interesting cavalry officer's saber mod. 1873 reused during the First World War by burnishing.

The sword is in fairly good general condition, the scabbard perfectly fitting the weapon has two 
lateral slots at the mouth presumably for an M55 sword, it is presumable that for military reasons 
an 1873 handle has been adapted to a blade and scabbard of a 55 ( nothing was ever thrown away)
