Jacques-Nicolas Bellin (Paris, 1703 - Versailles, March 21, 1772) was a French cartographer and geographer.
Bellin was born in Paris. Hydrographer at the French Hydrographic Office, he was a member of the Académie
de Marine and the Royal Society of London. In over 50 years of career, he produced a large number of papers
of particular interest to the Ministère de la Marine. His maps of Canada and the French territories in
North America (New France, Acadia, Louisiana) are particularly valuable. He died in Versailles
