The author, Carlo Guarnieri (Campiglia Marittima, Livorno 1892 - Campiglia Marittimoa 1988)
 was a pupil of De Carolis with whom he rivaled in the interpretation of "Dante" and in the
 execution of large plates. He participated with the group of "L’Eroica" in the 
1st International Woodcut Exhibition in Levanto in 1912 and he engraved assiduously until 1930 
to devote himself, then, to painting.
