Bronze medal with a special attachment system for the parade uniform commemorating the annexation of the Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia, which took place on October 1, 1938. After the invasion of Austria and its annexation ("Anschluss") by Nazi Germany in March 1938, Adolf Hitler's next objective was the annexation of Czechoslovakia. The pretext for the invasion was the vaunted hardships suffered by the German population living in the border regions of northern and western Czechoslovakia, collectively known as the "Sudeten Germans." Their incorporation into Germany would have left the rest of Czechoslovakia unable to resist the subsequent occupation.
