Documents awarding the Medal of Civil Valor to a Young Fascist.
An interesting collection of press releases regarding the request made on June 5, 1937, to award a Medal of Civil Valor to a Young Fascist who died while attempting to save a friend who was in distress in the water near Pesce di Trofarello, Turin.
On August 2, 1937, the Turin Federal Police responded that the proposal had been considered by the Prefect of Turin for granting.
The letter of June 5, 1937, is an account of the event and concludes with the proposal to award the medal. On April 16, 1938, the Federal Commander of the Turin GIL sent a letter to the Commander of the Trofarello GIL, stating that by decree of February 21, 1938, the Medal of Civil Valor was awarded in memoriam to the young man. On 17/04/38 the Commander of the GIL of Trofarello responded by recalling that on the occasion of the incident he had written to ask for a sum of money to be donated to the family as they were in financial difficulty. In the response letter, a copy, dated 22/04/38 the Commander of the GIL of Trofarello responded to a request to send the boy's photo, emphasizing that it was the only photo the family had of their son.
